Meet Benaiyah Duggins. Born in New York, he grew up in a two-parent home in a middle-class neighborhood of Queens. His childhood was not without its own challenges, having endured racism. He almost drowned at the age of 11 which caused some trauma that has lasted into his adulthood. During his senior year in high school, at the age of 18, he was robbed and shot with a 32 revolver, all for a boom box. The bullet (which is still in his body) fractured his collar bone, resulting in 60% loss of the use of his left arm. His injuries included punctured spleen and diaphragm, collapsed lung, nerve damage to his larynx with paralyzed vocal cords for several months. His doctors were skeptical about whether he would be able to use his left arm again or have use of his voice. 

Despite being in the hospital for more than two weeks, the doctors wanted to do more surgery to repair the nerve damages to his larynx. Benaiyah refused, saying “God will repair this for me.” After being discharged from the hospital, Benaiyah began recovering from his injuries. 

He graduated from Thomas Edison High School with an endorsed diploma in Electrical Installation. He has his Associate’s degree in Electro Mechanical Engineering from New York City College of Technology. While working full time at the Port Authority of NY & NJ, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Project Management from Phoenix University and his Master of Science degree in Project Management from Western Governors University with a minor in Psychology. 

Beyond the professional training that Benaiyah Duggins has achieved, his greatest joy is to give back

to his community and empower the generations that follow. To that end, he has helped to build one school, two vegan restaurants and has helped to improve the lives of all people.

Benaiyah practices a plant-based diet, having done so since 1996. 

He is skilled in Conflict Mediation, Holistic Coaching, Breath Work, Reiki, and Life management skills which include creating healthy eating habits, learning how to delegate, and setting S.M.A.R.T. goals so that progress can be measured.

He is a builder of things as well as a builder of character for his own children and his community.

He has traveled nationally across the United States and internationally to many countries in the Caribbean and South America, as well as to Israel.

Benaiyah has a special love for Africa, the Motherland and has travelled there often. He recently invested with friends in Kenya to open Nairobi’s first completely vegan restaurant. He believes that better food choices for the people will yield healthier bodies and minds.

His dream is to one day live in Africa and contribute to the rise of the continent on the world stage.
